Week 14 NFL Power Rankings

Another week and the faces at the top look very similar. The Saints survived a scare and the Colts didn't have much trouble this week. Both are now 12-0. The Vikings looked exposed by QB Kurt Warner and the Cardinals while the Chargers and the Bengals kept up their victorious ways. A few more big matchups this week with playoff implications highlighted possibly by the Cowboys-Chargers and the Bengals-Vikings.

2009 Power Rankings (going into Week 14):
1.(1) Saints (12-0): They needed some clutch plays and overtime to remain unbeaten. It was a bit of a wake-up and the schedule left for the most part is pretty soft.
2.(2) Colts (12-0): They got past a previously hot Titans team and have a great shot at perfection.
3.(3) Vikings (10-2): It may only be the second loss of the year, but it came at a bad time and it seemed as if there might be a few cracks in this previously unstoppable team.
4.(4) Chargers (9-3): Seven wins in a row and counting. The Cowboys will try to end that.
5.(5) Bengals (9-3): They have all but clinched the division and have clinched a winning season. More than many thought.
6.(8) Cardinals (8-4): They punched the Giants in the mouth earlier this season and just did the same to the Vikings.
7.(9) Eagles (8-4): The Eagles can take firm control of the division next week against the Giants.
8.(11) Packers (8-4): A four game winning streak along with great play have the Packers surging at the right time.
9.(6) Cowboys (8-4): December has arrived and things already don’t look good after another December loss and the Chargers are next on the schedule.
10.(10) Broncos (8-4): They look to be heading in the right direction after another solid victory. They have a shot to knock off the Colts this week.
11.(7) Patriots (7-5): They continue to not play well on the road and had a collapse late in the fourth quarter. Things we are not accustomed to seeing from these Patriots.
12.(14) Giants (7-5): A big divisional win has to boost their confidence a little.
13.(17) Jaguars (7-5): They are positioned to make a playoff run, but which team will show up will be hard to tell.
14.(12) Ravens (6-6): A tough loss to the Packers on Monday Night. They still have time to rebound.
15.(13) Steelers (6-6): Four losses in a row. The time to panic is yesterday. They are in jeopardy of missing the playoffs and not even getting a chance to defend their title.
16.(20) Dolphins (6-6): That was a solid win against the Patriots and has brought new life to this team and widen the AFC East up.
17.(15) Falcons (6-6): QB Matt Ryan started the year pretty strong, but have faded along with a toe injury to Ryan.
18.(16) Titans (5-7): They played flat against the Colts after 5 weeks of high performances.
19.(21) Jets (6-6): They are playing better as a team, but QB Mark Sanchez needs to monitor the risks he is putting himself in at times.
20.(18) Texans (5-7): They were once 5-3. Now they have dropped 4 straight and on playing for .500 again.
21.(22) Panthers (5-7): They got a win and will have a lot of questions to answer in off season moving forward.
22.(26) Seahawks (5-7): Back to back division wins means little when you are 3 games back.
23.(19) 49ers (5-7): Their offensive successes early on seem to be vanishing.
24.(23) Bears (5-7): A win against the struggling Rams and no picks from QB Jay Cutler equal a good week.
25.(28) Raiders (4-8): They might be putting together a late season rally with wins against the Bengals and Steelers in recent weeks.
26.(24) Bills (4-8): More offensive struggles for this team even across the border in Canada.
27.(25) Redskins (3-9): Playing hard doesn’t always equal wins and this team the last couple weeks in a prime example.
28.(27) Chiefs (3-9): Back to back weeks of blowouts losses is not a good way to end a bad season.
29.(29) Lions (2-10): Not too much to say, but more of the same with this team.
30.(30) Buccaneers (1-11): Keeping games close might be a goal for the rest of the year.
31.(31) Rams (1-11): This team was already struggling now injuries are starting to pile up.
32.(32) Browns (1-11): More losses and a poor offense. The story of 2009 for this team.

Another week closer to the playoffs and the faces of those playoffs are starting to become a little clearer as the bottom dwellers start to focus on 2010.
