Well, they meet again. The Lakers and the Celtics are back in the Finals against each other for the second time in three years. The Lakers were tested in six against the Suns, but Ron Artest helped Kobe Bryant put away the Suns. While the Celtics took it to the Magic early taking two on the road and one at home to go up 3-0. The Magic fought back to get back to Boston, but they couldn't force a Game 7. Overall, I I have gone 12-2 in the playoffs. Now many basketball have gotten what they wanted when they saw the possibility getting stronger. Kobe goes for ring #5 and a 16th banner for the Lakers. While the Big 4, which includes Rajon Rondo, are looking to guide Boston to its 18th banner.
NBA Finals
1) Los Angeles Lakers vs 4) Boston Celtics: These two met two years ago with the Celtics coming out on top in six. Kobe Bryant has not fought about that lost and is trying to view this as just another series for a championship and not much more because of the rivalry. This will be a battle between the last two champions and bragging rights for the end of the decade. Some think that if Kevin Garnett was healthy last year this series would have taken place in 2009 as well as 2008. All great players want not just one ring, but a bunch. Bryant has four while the big name Celtics only have that one. To put these two teams up against history, whomever wins will add to the Lakers/Celtics strangle hold on titles. 33 of the 64 titles will have been won by either one of these franchises. They have been in 20+ individually. The Lakers have been in 7 of the last 11 Finals all with Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson. Jackson is looking for his 11th ring and further cement his legacy. Andrew Bynum's health will prove important as he will be needed to give the Lakers the edge in the post. One matchup within the matchup worth watching is Paul Pierce vs Ron Artest. The two faced off multiple times when Artest was an Indiana Pacer. The Lakers are more physical then they were in 2008 and will punch the Celtics in the mouth and get punched in the mouth. Both Kobe Bryant and Rajon Rondo will probably play fairly consistent and it will be a matter of slowing either as much as possible and hoping that their respective teammmates don't get too hot.
This looks to be a great series that should go the distance. The two split the season series with the Lakers winning in Boston and the Celtics winning in Los Angeles against a Lakers team minus Bryant. PREDICTION: LAKERS IN 7
The Lakers have had doubters, but have battled through challenges. The Celtics have knocked out big stars, but Bryant has shown a killer instinct and looks to have better talent around him then teams the Celtics beat. This will be another chapter in the Lakers-Celtics saga. Can't wait!
